W. Goethe, F. Chopin or N. V. Gogol. Besides the springs, the list of attractions would include spa hotels and pavilions with new Renaissance and Art Deco elements, pseudo-Baroque spa colonnade and the Singing Fountain with music performance every odd hour combined with scenic illumination in the evenings.

Unfortunately, Thirty Years War and consequent plague epidemics in the 17th century had such a fatal impact that Třeboň has never returned to its former size and influence. Today, it offers numerous historical sights like Gothic castle from the 15th century, finally renovated to the Baroque mansion, or Gothic church uniquely compounded of two bodies. But Třeboň is also popular for its location in the heart of a picturesque landscape, which is a great proof of creative co-existence of human being with the surrounding nature. The area was formed and modelled for centuries to hold a unique system of ponds assuring constant balance of water, effective flood protection, overall mild climate, variety of plants, animal species and unique natural biotopes, thus truly deserving to be proclaimed UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
